Three construction projects are starting this week on U.S. 223 in Lenawee County, the Michigan Department of Transportation announced yesterday.

All require daytime flag zones, and a temporary traffic signal will be in place at one location, officials said.

MDOT contractors will reconstruct the Silberhorn Highway intersection near Blissfield and replace two culverts nearby; replace curbs and gutters and improve drainage just east of the River Raisin, and repair pavement and add a turn lane at Onsted Highway in Rome Center.

The $2 million Silberhorn project will continue as long as weather permits this fall, then resume next spring with completion scheduled for June.

The other projects, costing a combined $200,000, are expected to be finished by early November.
