Two women were hurt seriously yesterday when their car and a dump truck collided on Dorr Street near the University of Toledo, police said.

Fatima Al-Nezir, 19, and her passenger, Hawra Aldarisi, 18, were taken to Toledo Hospital, where they were listed in serious condition last night, a hospital spokesman said.

Ms. Al-Nezir was eastbound on Dorr about 9:15 a.m. and stopped at the traffic light to turn left onto Towerview Boulevard. When the light changed from green to caution, she made the turn in front of the dump truck hauling an empty trailer that was being driven west on Dorr by Scott Harrison, 45, of Delta, Ohio, police said.

His traffic signal also had changed from green to yellow as he went through the intersection and the vehicles collided, police said.

The women were trapped in the wreckage and were extricated by firefighters. Mr. Harrison was not hurt.
