Read for Literacy Inc., is seeking more volunteer tutors to work with a growing number of people who want to learn how to read.

The nonprofit group last night held its first of several upcoming tutor training sessions.

The next set of training sessions is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. Nov. 7 and continue that month on Nov. 9, 14, and 16 at the same time.

All training sessions will be held at the Read for Literacy offices at the Main Toledo-Lucas County Public Library, 325 North Michigan St.

Jim Funk, director of the group, said there are 81 people on a waiting list for tutors. People interested in volunteering should contact the group's office at 419-242-7323.
