Historical center plans special events Saturday

BOWLING GREEN Special events will be going on Saturday at historical sites around Wood County to kick off the release of a driving-tour audio compact disc created by the Wood County Historical Center.

Costumed interpreters will be in Pemberville from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Pember-Furry House, the One-Room School, and the Opera House. In Grand Rapids, there will be demonstrations at the Seven Eagles Historical Earth Center from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and mule-drawn canal boat rides will be running from noon to 4 p.m. at Providence Metropark.

The Zimmerman One-Room Schoolhouse north of Bowling Green also will be open from noon to 4 p.m., and Joe Arpad, author of Southern Wood County Oral History, will appear at the historical center on County Home Road from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. to autograph copies of his book.
