Findlay to seek citywide broadband network bids

FINDLAY - City Council is taking steps toward making Findlay a Wi-Fi community.

Council on Tuesday night authorized officials to seek bids for a citywide broadband network.

Mayor Tony Iriti said the first priority of the system would be to provide wireless Internet service to police, fire, and other city departments, but the network would be for the public, too.

"We can fashion a revenue-sharing agreement so that, like in most communities, they have two to three hours during the day when the Wi-Fi is free," he said. "All the rest of the time it would be by subscription."
