Mass-casualty bus drill set for Monroe County

MONROE - The Monroe County Firefighters Association will sponsor a mass-casualty bus-crash training session today.

The event will begin at 8 a.m. with an introduction and short video at the Monroe Township Fire Department, 15331 South Dixie Hwy., and then the session will move to Monroe High School until about noon.

The training session will test the county's public safety communications system and will focus on bus extrication, multiple patient incidents, and the county's incident command system, which is used to coordinate multiagency response to countywide emergencies.

Fire departments from across the county as well as the Michigan State Police, Monroe County Sheriff's Department, Monroe Police Department, Monroe Community Ambulance, Monroe County Central Dispatch, and Life Flight air ambulance will participate.
