5 injured in crash on State Rt. 15

DEFIANCE - Five people were hurt, at least two seriously, in a two-car accident Monday at State Rt. 15 and Bowman Road in Defiance County's Highland Township, the Ohio Highway Patrol said.

Elizabeth Neer, 16, of Paulding, Ohio, driver of one of the cars, and Adam Coressel, 17, of Defiance, a passenger in her car, were flown to St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Toledo. She was in critical condition yesterday; he was in serious condition.

Carolyne Christo, 15, and Michael Schlueter, 18, both of Paulding and also passengers in Miss Neer's car, were taken to Mercy Hospital of Defiance and the Defiance Regional Medical Center, respectively. Neither facility would release their conditions.

Armilda Monhollen, 76, of Oakwood, Ohio, driver of the other car, was taken to Mercy Hospital. Her condition was not available.

Miss Neer was eastbound on Bowman about 3:30 p.m. and stopped for a stop sign before trying to cross Route 15, when she was hit by Ms. Monhollen, who was southbound on Route 15, troopers said.

No charges have been filed, troopers said.
