City fire official named to Ohio security council

COLUMBUS Mike Wolever, Toledo s assistant fire chief and homeland security coordinator, has been appointed vice chairman of the Ohio Homeland Security Advisory Council.

The council meets quarterly to discuss funding and issues that affect first responders and law enforcement.

Chief Wolever was hired by the Toledo Fire Department in 1978 and has served as its assistant chief the last four years.

Since 2001, Chief Wolever also has been in charge of the city s homeland security office, where he coordinates homeland security matters for Toledo and Lucas County. He also is coordinator of the Metropolitan Medical Response System program and the city coordinator for the Urban Area Security Initiative.
