Findlay streets clearing as flooded river recedes

12/4/2006

FINDLAY City streets were largely passable yesterday after the Blanchard River, which had flooded on Saturday, receded, city officials said.

Only the streets that are near and parallel to the river are still under water, the officials said.

Just east of Findlay, State Rt. 568 near the Blanchard remained closed to traffic because of high water last night, troopers at the Ohio Highway Patrol s Findlay post said.

Other area law enforcement agencies reported no major flood-related problems in the areas where the flood warning continued. The flood warning was still in effect for the Blanchard River near Findlay; the Maumee River in Waterville; the Sandusky River in Tiffin, and the Portage River in Woodville. It was canceled for the Maumee River in Grand Rapids.
