Tax bills for Lucas County should be received soon

12/28/2006

Lucas County property owners should soon receive their real estate tax bill for the first half of 2006, bills that are due Jan. 31, Lucas County Treasurer Wade Kapszukiewicz said yesterday.

People wishing to pay their taxes before the end of the 2006 calendar year may do so in the treasurer's office from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and tomorrow. Property owners opting for phone or Internet payment may do so until 11:59 p.m. on Sunday.

Mr. Kapszukiewicz said he expects to collect at least $200 million from the county's 206,000 parcel owners.

Taxes can be paid in person at the Lucas County Treasurer's office in One Government Center or at branches of several local banks, including KeyBank, Huntington Bank, Sky Bank, National City Bank, Fifth Third Bank, First Federal Bank, Exchange Bank, and Genoa Banking Center. Payments sent via mail must be postmarked by Jan. 31 to avoid penalty and interest.

Payments can be made with cash, personal check, certified check, or money order. Credit card and E-Check payments may be made by phone through Official Payments Corp. by calling 1-888-272-9829 or online at www.co.lucas.oh.us/treasurer.

Questions can be directed toward the treasurer's office's real estate department at 419-213-4305.
