Sylvania Township head-on crash seriously hurts 2

Two people were seriously hurt yesterday in a head-on collision on Central Avenue at Reynolds Road in Sylvania Township, the Ohio Highway Patrol said.

Howard Cable, 76, of Toledo, and Susan Cable, 56, of Toledo, were taken to Toledo Hospital, where they were in critical condition last night, a hospital spokesman said.

Mr. Cable and Ms. Cable were in a sport-utility vehicle being driven east on Central by Diana Cable, 30, of Toledo, about 7 p.m. when it was hit by a car that attempted to turn south onto Reynolds from westbound Central, troopers at the patrol's Toledo post said. Howard and Susan Cable were extricated from the vehicle. Diana Cable was not hurt.

Troopers said the car, driven by Jason Lindenberger, 29, of Fremont, failed to yield to the SUV. Mr. Lindenberger and passenger Amanda Lindenberger, 29, of Fremont, were treated at Toledo Hospital.

Diana Cable was the only person involved who was wearing a seat belt, troopers said. No charges have been filed and the crash is under investigation.
