WAUSEON Steve Buehrer, a Republican state senator from Delta, was unanimously hired as Wauseon city law director by city council yesterday, replacing Carrie Nixon, who resigned effective last Tuesday because of health problems.

Mr. Buehrer is employed by Barber, Kaper, Stamm & Robinson and has been an assistant Wauseon law director for eight years. Last month, he replaced Ms. Nixon in McClure, becoming solicitor there.

He took office in the Ohio Senate last month after eight years in the Ohio House of Representatives. He has been a lawyer since 1997.

He is to be paid in accordance with Ms. Nixon s contract, which is through the end of the year and calls for a $2,000 a month retainer plus $120 an hour for additional work. The law firm receives an additional $500 a month for office expenses.
