Web site aids tracking of ash borer

2/23/2007

The Ohio Department of Agriculture yesterday rolled out a new Web site and listserv for people tracking the state's efforts to kill the deadly emerald ash borer.

The new Web site, www.ohioagriculture.gov/eab/plnt-eab-compliance.stm, provides both an expanded format and a list of wood-handling businesses abiding by quarantine regulations.

The new listserv provides information about Ohio's program via e-mail as it's released. To sign up, call 1-888-OHIO-EAB.

The pest, which starves ash trees to death, is in 26 Ohio counties, mostly in the northwest part of the state. Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, and Ontario are among the other states and provinces infested.
