Excess U.S. 24 parcels to be auctioned off

2/26/2007

PAULDING, Ohio Excess land parcels along the U.S. 24 Fort-to-Port project are to be auctioned off at 4 p.m. tomorrow at the Ohio Department of Transportation s Paulding County garage, 833 Wayne St., Paulding.

The 10 parcels, ranging in size from about three acres to 23 acres, are within Carryall and Crane townships and in the village of Cecil in Paulding County.

Maps of the parcels and information about the sale are available at the ODOT District 1 Web Site at www.dot.state.oh.us/dist1.

Ohio law requires ODOT to offer to purchase any parcels which are landlocked as a result of abutting land being purchased to secure right of way for highway projects; the parcels are held until it is determined that they are not needed for the projects.

Several of the parcels that will be auctioned tomorrow are landlocked and do not have road access; access is only possible through abutting property owners land.
