A 19-year-old Northwood man whose car crashed into a tree almost directly across the street from his home in late March died Sunday in University of Toledo Medical Center, formerly the Medical College of Ohio, authorities said.

Errick K. Lamb of 4930 Curtice Rd. was flown to the medical center after the crash on March 29, and was admitted in critical condition.

His car was eastbound on Curtice near Wynn Road at a high rate of speed just after 1 a.m. when he lost control, went off the north side of the road, and slammed into the tree, authorities said.

It took nearly 20 minutes to extricate Mr. Lamb from the vehicle, authorities said. He was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown to the passenger side of the car.
