Bluffton student coach s condition is upgraded

ATLANTA The status of the only Bluffton University baseball team member still in the hospital here after a deadly bus crash last month was upgraded to fair condition, a hospital spokesman said yesterday.

Tim Berta, 22, suffered brain injuries March 2 when a bus carrying the Bluffton University team went off an overpass onto I-75 in Atlanta. Mr. Berta, a student coach from Ida, Mich., is in Grady Memorial Hospital.

Five players, the bus driver, and his wife died in the crash. Twenty-nine people were hospitalized after the crash, seven in serious or critical condition, including Coach James Grandey.
