Patrol to eye Airport, Angola

4/28/2007

The area of Airport Highway and Angola Road in Springfield Township will be the focus of an enforcement blitz that will begin Thursday and last through June 29, the Ohio Highway Patrol said.

Troopers with the patrol's Toledo post, Lucas County sheriff's deputies, and Holland police officers will look for crash-causing violations, such as following too close and failure to yield, troopers said.

Authorities also will enforce seat-belt laws.

During the same period last year, there were two fatal and 47 injury crashes in the area that encompasses the Spring Meadows shopping center and the I-475 and Airport Highway interchange, troopers said.

Already this year, there have been one fatal crash and 56 injury crashes in that area, troopers said.
