For the Biscuit Dough Mix:
2 cups flour
4 teaspoons baking powder
teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon soy sauce
23 cup vegetable shortening
1 tablespoon fresh onion
For the Meat filling:
1 pound ground round steak
teaspoon salt
teaspoon pepper
1 tablespoon fresh onion
2 tablespoons chopped green pepper
2 cups tomato puree
2 tablespoons flour
3 tablespoons ketchup
Set oven at 425 degrees. Sift flour, baking powder, and salt together. Cut in shortening, sprinkle onion on top. Add milk and soy sauce and mix together. Brown meat in large skillet, breaking it into fine pieces. Add salt, pepper, onion, and peppers. Stir flour into 1 cup of tomato puree until lumps are gone and add to browned meat. Add ketchup and cook until thickened.
Drop biscuit dough on baking sheet by heaping tablespoonfuls, make 12, and form a well in the center of each with a spoon. Drop one tablespoon of meat mixture in each well and top with a teaspoonful of dough. Bake 12 minutes. While rounds bake, add remaining tomato puree to meat left in skillet and simmer. Serve the round-ups with meat sauce poured over.
