Damage put at $500,000 in Stryker sawmill blaze

STRYKER, Ohio Damage was estimated at $500,000 from a fire at Frank s Sawmill in southeastern Williams County Thursday night.

Stryker Fire Chief Craig Koeppe said the fire apparently started in an overhead machine being used to make mulch.

The fire destroyed that machine and another piece of equipment, but there was no damage to the sawmill s buildings, and no injuries were reported.

In addition to Stryker, firefighters from Archbold, Wauseon, West Unity, Bryan, Montpelier, Pioneer, Kunkle, Ridgeville, and Alvordton responded to the blaze, which was reported about 8:30 p.m. Thursday. The last units left the scene about 3:45 a.m. yesterday.
