Plan agency to consider block grant applications

6/4/2007

BOWLING GREEN The Wood County Planning Commission will consider applications for community development block grants when it meets at 5:30 p.m. tomorrow on the fifth floor of the County Office Building.

Six communities could share $252,000 to help fund projects in their towns. The planning commission will make recommendations to Wood County commissioners who have scheduled a public hearing on the matter at 1:30 p.m. Thursday.

Also at its meeting, the county planning commission will consider a request by Pioneer Auto Truck Stops Inc. to rezone about 106 acres in Lake Township from agricultural to M-1 light industrial. The applicant said it was selling the land, which is located on the east side of Lemoyne Road and the north side of State Rt. 795, and that light industrial was the best use for the property.

In addition during its meeting, the commission will review a series of new and revised definitions and updates in Center Township s zoning resolution. Planning Director Dave Steiner said the same changes were recommended for adoption by the planning commission last December, but the changes had to be resubmitted because there had been a procedural error.
