MONROE - A 41-year-old Flat Rock, Mich., fisherman was missing after the boat he was on capsized in Lake Erie during a storm Friday afternoon.

The missing boater has been identified as Gregory Earl Zentgraf. The U.S. Coast Guard was unable to locate Mr. Zentgraf and suspended its search at 9:13 a.m. Saturday morning.

The Monroe County Sheriff's Office is continuing its recovery efforts by air and sea.

The fishing trip started at 4 p.m. when Devon Boik of Newport, Mich., went out on Lake Erie with his soon-to-be brother-in-law in Mr. Boik's 18-foot boat, the sheriff's news release said.

The men left from the Bolles Harbor public access site and had headed three miles east into Lake Erie when a storm brought on 4 to 6-foot waves, the release said.

The boat took on water, and the motor stalled. Both men put on life jackets before the boat capsized and they floated in the water for about 30 minutes before they were separated by rough waters, the release said.

Mr. Boik was found by the U.S. Coast Guard at about 7 p.m. and transported back to the Bolles Harbor public access site. He was treated for minor injuries and fatigue at Mercy Memorial Hospital of Monroe.
