BOWLING GREEN - The city's first domestic-violence shelter will mark its second year in operation with a party Monday at St. Mark's Lutheran Church.

Michelle Clossick, executive director of Cocoon Shelter, said that in its first two years, the shelter has provided 4,766 days of safe emergency housing for 84 women and children. Families have stayed an average of 52 days before making a transition to safe housing outside the shelter, she said.

The public is invited to attend the shelter's two-year birthday party, which will run from 7 to 9 p.m. and include food and music at the church, 315 College St. To attend, call 419-373-1730 or send an e-mail to cocoon@cocoonshelter.org.
