A Toledo police officer and another driver were hurt yesterday when their vehicles collided in an accident caused by the driver of a stolen van that pulled out from a side street in South Toledo.

Officer Stephen Zarecki was traveling west in the 3100 block of Airport Highway about 7:20 a.m. as the other, unidentified driver was traveling east. A van, stolen from Grand Avenue, pulled out from Byrneport Drive after the driver failed to stop for a stop sign, police said.

The eastbound driver and the officer tried to avoid the situation, but their vehicles collided. Police said both received minor injuries.

The van was found in the 2800 block of Airport. A witness told police that three males inside the van fled. No one has been arrested.
