Stolen tape has data on 225,000 Ohio taxpayers

(Updated at 5:49 p.m.) The number of people who could potentially be affected by the theft early last week of a state computer data storage device just became dramatically larger after the state discovered it contained personal information on nearly a quarter of a million taxpayers and lottery winners.


(Updated at 11:23 p.m.) CANTON, Ohio -- For the second time in three days, investigators searched the home of a Canton police officer who fathered the son and unborn daughter of a woman who went missing, leaving the 2-year-old boy home alone.

(Updated at 4:24 p.m.) A light show will begin at 9:30 p.m. Saturday and continue throughout the night to mark the opening of the new Veterans' Glass City Skyway, officials announced this afternoon. The Ohio Department of Transportation said the pylon lighting system show will include a year's worth of programming in 90-minute segments.

(Posted at 11:15 a.m.) Customers hoping to stock up on groceries this morning at the Bassett s Market store at 5700 Monroe St. in Sylvania s Starlite Plaza had to shop elsewhere. The store, operated by Port Clinton grocer Mike Bassett, has closed after less than two years of business.

A 44-year-old man died this morning after his pick-up truck rolled over several times, causing him to be thrown from his vehicle into a nearby creek, according to the Monroe County Sheriff s Office. Bradford W. Perry, of LaSalle, was driving eastbound on Yagerville Road about 5:30 a.m. when he ran through the stop sign at Telegraph Road, traveled off the north side of South Otter Creek Road, and sideswiped a guardrail.
