Fostoria mayor complies with council seating chart

6/21/2007

FOSTORIA Mayor John Davoli was assigned a new seat at Tuesday night s council meeting by council President Joe Droll, who said he didn t want the meetings turning into mayoral debates.

Mr. Droll reassigned the mayor s usual seat closest to the podium where members of the public speak to the farthest seat from the podium.

The mayor initially resisted but agreed to comply after Mr. Droll told him he would not be admitted to the next council meeting unless he did.

The new seat assignment was made following an incident June 5 in which Mayor Davoli and Pat Sterling, an independent mayoral candidate, got into a heated debate at a council meeting over the purchase of a sport utility vehicle for the police chief.
