Golf outing raises $16,000 for new Bowling Green support group

BOWLING GREEN - More than $16,000 was raised at a charity golf outing last week in support of Alicia's Voice, a new organization dedicated to eradicating domestic violence.

Kathy Newlove, who helped start the organization after her daughter, Alicia Castillon, was murdered in March, said the money will support the group's ultimate goal of getting a family justice center opened in Wood County. The center would be a central location for agencies and organizations that provide legal, medical, and other support services for victims of domestic violence.

Castillon, 30, and her friend, John C. Mitchell, 22, both were shot to death inside Castillon's Bowling Green home March 29.

Her former boyfriend, Craig Daniels, Jr., 34, of Bowling Green, has been charged with two counts of aggravated murder, aggravated burglary, and burglary in connection with the slayings.

Ms. Newlove said Castillon's four children, who were home at the time of the murders, recently moved to Florida to live with her son and his new wife.
