Bryan man hurt in crash in Putnam County

KALIDA, Ohio A Bryan man was hurt last night when he lost consciousness while operating a tractor-trailer rig, crashing it in a ditch off State Rt. 115 at Putnam County Road R about 70 miles southwest of Toledo, the Putnam County sheriff s office said.

Duane Crandall, 38, the driver of the semi, was taken to Defiance Regional Medical Center, which released no information about him this morning, sheriff s deputies said.

The crash occurred about 11:15 p.m. in Putnam County s Sugar Creek Township about four miles south of Kalida.

The semi went off the left side of the road and into a bean field, where it traveled about 300 yards before striking a ditch. The accident remains under investigation, deputies said.
