KALIDA, Ohio - A Bryan man was hurt Wednesday when he lost consciousness while operating a tractor-trailer, crashing it in a ditch off State Rt. 115 at Putnam County Road R about 70 miles southwest of Toledo, the county sheriff's deputies said.

Duane Crandall, 38, was taken to Defiance Regional Medical Center, which released no information about him yesterday.

The crash occurred about 11:15 p.m. in Sugar Creek Township, about four miles south of Kalida, sheriff's deputies said. The semi went off the left side of the road and into a bean field, where it traveled about 300 yards before going into the ditch, deputies said.
