A South Toledo man was in critical condition last night after his car went left of center on U.S. 24 near Bailey Road southwest of Waterville yesterday and struck a tractor trailer, the Ohio Highway Patrol said.

U.S. 24 was closed between Neowash and Heller roads for about three hours.

Gary M. Stickley, 47, was flown to Toledo Hospital, troopers at the patrol's Toledo post said.

The semi driver, Scott M. Rissman, 41, of Wixon, Mich., was not hurt, troopers said.

The crash occurred about 3:15 p.m. when the car, which was eastbound on U.S. 24, struck the westbound semi, troopers said.
