Pedestrian struck, killed by train in Bowling Green

BOWLING GREEN A pedestrian was struck and killed by a freight train early this morning on the northbound CSX railroad tracks near East Lehman Avenue, police said.

The victim, whose identity is being withheld until family members are notified, was pronounced dead at the scene. The person was found beside the tracks by a police officer shortly after the CSX alerted police about 4:20 a.m, authorities said.

The accident closed the railroad crossings at East Lehman, Derby Avenue, and Napoleon Road for about six hours. The crossings were re-opened to vehicular and pedestrian traffic at 10:13 a.m., police said.
