Lucas County residents who are unhappy with their assessed property values can now challenge those values on the Internet.

Anita Lopez, the Lucas County auditor who campaigned on the notion that many county residents were unfairly taxed in last year s property revaluations, has placed an informal review form online that she said will make it easier for property owners to dispute those assessed values.

By going to www.co.lucas.oh.us/auditor/informal, Ms. Lopez said a property owner can skip the lengthy and sometimes confusing process of acquiring an informal review form and sending it through regular mail.

The deadline for submitting an informal review form is Oct. 1.

Those who submit these forms are generally residents who are seeking reductions in their property values, which lead to lower taxes.

Residents who are not happy with the auditor s property readjustment would then have the option of filing a formal complaint with the Lucas County Board of Revision.
