An Erie, Mich., man was killed last night when the motorcycle he was operating collided with an Ohio Department of Transportation pickup truck-trailer rig in the eastbound lanes of I-475 at Central Avenue in west Toledo, police said.

Jerold Milks, the motorcyclist whose age was not reported, was pronounced dead at the scene, officers said.

Mr. Milks was eastbound on I-475 about 11:15 p.m. when he failed to keep an assured clear distance with the rig in front of him and laid the motorcycle, crashing it into the back of the rig s trailer.

The driver of the ODOT rig, Michael Fountain, of Bowling Green, was not hurt in the crash. It was unclear whether Mr. Milks was wearing a helmet, officers said.
