Storm sewer project to close part of Laskey

8/4/2007

A portion of Laskey Road, between Tractor and Crabb roads, will be closed for six weeks, beginning Sept. 6, as part of Toledo s $3 million storm sewer project.

Robert Williams, the director of Toledo s public utilities department, said the city will be placing a large pipe underneath Laskey that will run parallel to Shantee Creek and greatly reduce the risk of flooding.

Mr. Williams said that portion of Laskey was scheduled to be closed by now, but project managers rearranged the order of tasks for completion and the project is on schedule.

He said the project is a response to the flooding last year on Crawford Avenue and other areas that prompted a federal disaster declaration because of the structural damage suffered by a number of houses.
