Two people were shot and killed at a Perrysburg Township business on Wednesday afternoon, and a man was arrested across the state line in Michigan about three hours later after he fled in a semitrailer cab, authorities said.

The shooting occurred about 3:15 p.m. at Liberty Transportation, 7171 Reuthinger Rd., in Perrysburg Township. The business is in an isolated industrial complex bordered on one side by soybean fields. Owens Community College is less than a mile away.

Late Wednesday, police were interviewing witnesses. There was no immediate motive for the shooting. The names of the dead were not released pending notification of relatives. Authorities would not say if they were men or women.

Neyland

Calvin C. Neyland, 43, of Findlay, was arrested shortly before 6 p.m. in Monroe County, where he fled in a red semitrailer cab, said Perrysburg Township Detective Sgt. Robert Gates. The suspect was arrested at a motel on Telegraph Road, Sergeant Gates said.

Officials from the Wood County prosecutor's office and the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation were being briefed by Perrysburg Township police and fire officials at the scene.

Sergeant Gates said police believe that the victims were employees of Liberty Transportation, but he said that has not been confirmed.

My primary concern right now is that we make this a solvable case, and my next concern is that the families are notified in a dignified way, Sergeant Gates said.

He said the victims had been working inside the building, but he would not say whether they were shot inside the building or outside.

Yellow police tape surrounded the metal warehouse-type building and driveway, and several small evidence markers were placed outside the building's main entrance.

Chuck Runzo, president of Liberty Transportation, said he had no immediate comment.

Liberty Transportation's corporate office is in New Alexandria, Pa., east of Pittsburgh, according to the company's Web site. Its trucks carry appliances, tires, windows and doors. The company, founded by Runzo in 1978, also has operations in Maryland, Washington D.C., Virginia and in New England.
