Firefighter hurt extinguishing train engine fire in Tontogany

TONTOGANY, Ohio A firefighter was hurt when two train engines, one holding 5,000 gallons of diesel fuel, burned last night on the CSX railroad tracks in this western Wood County village about 20 miles southwest of Toledo.

One Washington Township firefighter was hurt while helping extinguish the blaze and was taken to an area hospital, according to the Wood County Sheriff s office. His name and condition were not released.

The fire happened about 11:25 p.m. on the tracks near Crom Street, where the train had stopped.

Washington Township fire crews had the blaze under control by 12:45 a.m., sheriff s deputies said.

Damage estimate was not available this morning.
