Oregon teen killed in crash

A 19-year-old Oregon woman was killed last night when the car she was riding in was struck broadside by a pickup truck, police said.

Nikita Wilber, 3311 Seaman St., was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, which occurred about 11:45 p.m. near Hill and Westwood avenues.

Ms. Wilber was a passenger in a car driven by Stephanie Scherer, 18, also of Oregon, when the vehicle was struck on the right side by a pickup truck driven by Jason Krieg, 29, 5116 Burlingame Drive, police said.

The vehicle driven by Ms. Scherer

approached the South Toledo intersection from an unknown direction and was hit by the truck, which was traveling westbound on Hill Avenue near Westwood Avenue, police said.

Ms. Scherer was taken to the University of Toledo Medical Center, formerly Medical College of Ohio, where a nursing supervisor said she had no patient there by that name.
