Teen hit by car on way to Byrnedale Junior High

A 13-year-old boy was hit by a car this morning while crossing Glendale Avenue on his way to school, police said.

The teenager apparently was dropped off by his mother across the street from Byrnedale Junior High, 3645 Glendale Ave. about 7:50 a.m., police said.

Police said the boy, who was not walking in a designated crosswalk, walked to the center of Glendale Avenue and an oncoming car stopped and allowed him to cross in front of the vehicle.

The boy didn t look before he continued on and was struck by a second vehicle, police said.

The teenager was taken by ambulance to Toledo Hospital and appeared to have head injuries, police said.

Police have not released the boy s name.
