FINDLAY - The federal and state disaster recovery centers that have operated in those areas of northwest and central Ohio hit hard last month by flooding are scaling back their operations, beginning tomorrow.

The centers in Hancock, Putnam, Allen, and Wyandot counties will start closing on Sundays, beginning tomorrow. They will continue weekday hours from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Saturday hours from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The centers have served more than 1,000 local residents who suffered losses in the floods, assisting them in applying for federal and state assistance programs.

Meanwhile, a student organization on the Findlay campus of Owens Community College is collecting school supplies that will be donated to school-aged victims of last month's flooding.

The group, Campus Students Involved, is collecting backpacks, crayons, markers, folders, calculators, and any other items that might be needed by students.

Donations will be accepted through Friday at the Findlay campus Commons area.
