FAYETTE, Ohio - A 17-year-old girl was killed yesterday when the pickup truck she was driving and a tractor-trailer collided on U.S. 20 at Fulton County Road 23 east of here in Fulton County's Gorham Township, the Ohio Highway Patrol said.

Jamie Doremus of rural Wauseon was pronounced dead at the scene, troopers at the patrol's Toledo post said.

Her passenger, Jessica Sharp, 17, of Delta, Ohio, who was thrown from the truck, was flown to St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Toledo, where she was in critical condition.

Miss Doremus was southbound on Road 23 just before 6 p.m. when she stopped at the stop sign, then pulled into the path of the tractor-trailer being driven west on U.S. 20 by Daniel Degner, 45, of Dysart, Iowa. The tractor-trailer struck the pickup on the driver's side door, troopers said. Mr. Degner was treated at the Archbold Medical Center. Ms. Sharp was the only person involved who was not wearing a seat belt, troopers said.
