LIBERTY CENTER, Ohio - One of the busiest roadways in Henry County was closed for several hours yesterday after a tractor-trailer collided with a dump truck on U.S. 24, spilling several tons of crushed stone over the highway, authorities said.

The accident occurred about 12:30 p.m. on westbound U.S. 24 near County Road 11. The two truck drivers were treated at Henry County Hospital.

Emergency crews closed U.S. 24 for more than three hours as the stone was scooped up with a backhoe and loaded into another dump truck, authorities said.

The Ohio Department of Transportation's District 2 office rerouted traffic down County Road 10 to State Rt. 424 and back to U.S. 24 via Industrial Drive.

Henry County sheriff's deputies, who are investigating the accident, said traffic was backed up for several miles on U.S. 24.
