VERMILION, Ohio An Oberlin, Ohio, man was injured in a fiery crash yesterday when the motorcycle he was driving, a pickup truck, and a car collided at State Rt. 60 and Darrow Road about 1 miles south of Vermilion, the Ohio Highway Patrol said.

Edward H. Hartman, 34, the driver of the motorcycle, suffered serious injuries to his leg, troopers at the patrol s Sandusky post said. He was taken to Community Health Partners in Lorain, Ohio, and later airlifted to Cleveland MetroHealth Medical Center, where his condition was not released today.

The crash occurred about 1:25 p.m. in Erie County s Vermilion Township.

Mr. Hartman was northbound and Ronald Campana, 40, of Amherst, Ohio, the driver of the pickup truck, was southbound on Route 60 at the intersection with Darrow, where a car driven by Deborah Filbert, 52, of Vermilion, was stopped facing west.

The Campana truck started turning left and was struck by the Hartman motorcycle, which then overturned, throwing off the rider, who was not wearing a helmet. The motorcycle then struck the Filbert car and burst into flames.

Mr. Campana and Ms. Filbert, who were both wearing safety belts, were not hurt. Mr. Campana was cited with failure to yield turning left, troopers said.

Vermillion is 75 miles south of Toledo.
