Wood County funds mosquito control

9/26/2007

BOWLING GREEN - Wood County commissioners yesterday presented a $6,000 check to the county health department to continue its mosquito-control efforts.

Brad Espen, director of environmental health, requested the extra funding because the health department has been besieged with requests to apply larvicide around the county since the mosquito population boomed after last month's heavy rains.

The money will be used to pay for larvicide dunks residents may obtain at no charge to treat small areas of standing water on their property, and for larvicide the health department applies, on request, to larger bodies of water.
