Gas prices fall nearly 8 cents per gallon, AAA Michigan says

DETROIT Gasoline prices in Michigan are down nearly 8 cents from a week ago.

AAA Michigan reports the average price for self-serve unleaded is $2.91 per gallon. That s 73 cents higher than this time last year.

The highest prices are in the Marquette area at about $3.06 per gallon. The lowest pump prices can be found in Grand Rapids at $2.81 per gallon. Motorists in the Detroit area are paying an average of $2.93.

The statewide average for biodiesel is $3.13 and $2.58 for ethanol.

AAA Michigan surveys 2,800 gas stations.
