DUNDEE, Mich. An unidentified pedestrian died after being struck by a car about 2:30 a.m. today along U.S. 23 in northwestern Monroe County.

Sheriff s deputies said the victim, a white woman likely in her 40s or 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene. She had been walking south of Milwaukee Road in Milan Township, which the sheriff s office described as a rural, agricultural area where pedestrians are not allowed to walk on the freeway.

She was struck by a car driven by Marvin G. Belzer, 55, of Monclova Township, who was southbound on U.S. 23 near Dundee, the sheriff s office said. He was not injured. Speed did not appear to be a factor in the incident, the sheriff s office said.
