An East Toledo woman died yesterday in St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, three hours after she was struck by a pickup after stepping out of one in which she had been riding, Toledo police said.
Elida Barrera, 53, of Lebanon Street was pronounced dead at 1:13 a.m. yesterday, a hospital spokesman said.
Ms. Barrera was riding with two female relatives in a pickup headed west on Starr Avenue about 10:10 p.m. Sunday. She got out of the truck at a red light near East Broadway and stepped into oncoming traffic. She was hit by an eastbound pickup driven by Marvin Jones of Oregon, police said.
Mr. Jones was not charged.
