United Way at halfway mark of $15 million goal

11/13/2007

The United Way of Greater Toledo yesterday announced it is halfway to its $15 million fund-raising goal with three weeks remaining in its 2007 campaign.

Campaign Chairman Bob LaClair, president and chief executive officer of Fifth Third Bank (Northwestern Ohio), said the campaign reported more than $1.4 million in contributions last week alone. Many workplaces have had increases of 25 percent or more among their employees giving.

Last year s United Way campaign wound up nearly $400,000 short of its $14 million goal to help the poorest and youngest members of the community. This year s goal would nearly match its all-time collection record set in 1999.

United Way of Greater Toledo provides services in Lucas, Wood, and Ottawa counties.
