4 billboards seeking clues to murders taken down

11/16/2007

FOSTORIA Four controversial billboards seeking help in solving unsolved murders have been removed though it remains unclear who paid for them in the first place.

The billboards claimed to be sponsored by the Zero Tolerance Task Force, although several representatives of the task force said they knew nothing about them.

Some family members of the victims whose names were printed on the signs also knew nothing about them until they saw them around Fostoria.

Mayor John Davoli, who said he considered the billboards political statements intended to discredit his candidacy for re-election, said he was glad the signs were removed, but he hoped the reward money offered still would be given to anyone who provides information that could help solve the crimes.
