BOWLING GREEN - Bowling Green State University is partnering with organizations in Algeria and Tunisia to address environmental concerns through journalism.

A three-year, $388,800 grant from the Bureau of Education and Cultural Affairs at the U.S. Department of State will fund the "Partners for a Sustainable Future: Aiding Future Practitioners of Algerian and Tunisian Environmental Journalism and Communication" project.

BGSU has committed an additional $177,733 for the project that involves BGSU faculty with expertise in journalism, environmental science, communication, and intercultural studies.

The partnership will begin with a group from Bowling Green traveling to Tunisia and Algeria in March, and three-week workshops are being planned for next summer and 2009.
