Findlay under boil alert

The city of Findlay in Ohio has been placed under a boil alert beginning at 1:45 p.m. Thursday.

City officials have issued a statement saying that residents should not drink the water without boiling it first or using bottled water as the alternative. This includes uses such as for household tasks and hygiene.

A water sample taken shows high levels of turbidity, meaning that there's an increased chance that the water may contain disease-causing organisms like bacteria, viruses and parasites. These organisms can cause illnesses like nausea, cramps, diarrhea and associated headaches.

Those with weak immune systems, infants and some elderly are at an increased risk.
