Jackson says Lima police should be prosecuted for shooting death in drug raid

LIMA, Ohio The Rev. Jesse Jackson said today that Lima police should be prosecuted for the shooting death of a biracial woman during a drug raid last month. There must be a deterrent, not just for the man who pulled the trigger, but for those who planned [the raid], he told reporters at a news conference following a closed-door meeting with Lima and Allen County officials.

Robert Torres, the vice president of the Toledo Board of Education, announced Monday he is resigning that position and is leaving his job with the city s department of development. Mr. Torres, 45, who has lived in Toledo for 19 years, has accepted the position of director of development for the city of Canton.

WASHINGTON The Pentagon announced that it is charging six detainees at Guantanamo Bay with murder and war crimes in connection with the Sept. 11 terror attacks on America, and will seek the death penalty. The announcement was made during a press conference Monday morning.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory which is in effect from 4 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday. The National Weather Service flood warning continues for the Maumee River at Waterville. The warning is extended until this afternoon.
